AUDC 2006 results

Results from the 2006 Asian Universities Debate Championship, held in Manila:

Champion: Ateneo A (Charisse Borromeo, Leloy Claudio, Sharmila Parmanand)
Runner-up: Ateneo B (Miko Biscocho, Mahar Mangahas, Glenn Tuazon)

Semi Final 1: Ateneo A def. Ateneo C (Kip Oebanda, DS Corpuz, Czarina Medina)

Semi Final 2: Ateneo B def. UPM B (Adrian Rabe, Chrys Herrera, Aloy Domingo)

Best Speaker of the Final was Miko Biscocho (Ateneo B)
Best Speaker of the Tab was Charisse Borromeo (Ateneo A)

Best Adjudicator was Jess Lopez (Ateneo)
EForL: BNU A def. Hanyang B in the final.

Fellow debaters,
Registration for the Istanbul 2006 tournament at Koc University isnow officially open. You can register and pay online at
http://istanbul2006.ku.edu.tr/

Go to the Tournament section at the top of the page. Registration will be on a first come, first served basis until we reach our teamcap (around 72 teams). The fee if you register before 15th June is 75Euros. (Early reg is only possible when paying, not filling the info form) And late registration will be charged as รข‚¬ 95 that means paying on theregistraion day.

There is no institutional cap and composite teams areallowed. You can register your details and pay later through one ofthe routes outlined on the payment page. The electronic transfer isreliable and organised by Koc Bank, one of the most reputable banksin Turkey.

And to confirm our final judging and coaching panel:
--Jeremy Brier (CA): World Champion 2004 and Worlds DCA 2005
--Anat Gelber (DCA): The best ESL speaker in the world and DCA at Euros 2007
--Fraser Campbell (DCA): Euros Champion 2002 and DCA at Istanbul 2005

And new names:
Amanda Wolthuizen (DCA): All the way from Australia, Amanda was aWorlds Finalist in 2002 and a Worlds DCA in 2004. She has been anoutstandingly successful debater on both the Australasian and Worldarena and we're proud to have such an experienced colleague join us.

Jan Rosing (DCA): Jan was the first ever ESL speaking EFL EurosChampion in 2004. He was DCA at Euros 2005 and CA at Istanbul 2005.He is an outstanding coach, especially for ESL teams, runningdebating and public speaking training around Europe. He's also agreat laugh!

Can Okar (sort of DCA): Euros Champion 2003, Euros CA 2007

Remember that these experts don't just judge. You will get the opportunity to go to seminars where they teach both intermediary and advanced debating techniques. Koc has always been about improvingeveryone who comes along.

GUU Masters

ESU Scotland is planning an Masters tournament for graduates only in late September. It is going to be a one day tournament held at the GUU. Student debaters will be the judges.
