Harvard Debate Tournament

The Harvard Speech and Parliamentary Debate Society will be holding the 2006 Harvard Debating Championships on October 6-7. We are once again proud to host what has long been the country's largest and most competitive non-title tournament. Fittingly, we are looking forward to bringing you the league's deepest judging pool and an incredibly fast computerized tab room.

As always, there will be five rounds of preliminary competition breaking to octofinals (Round of 16). All teams new to APDA will be eligible for novice awards and elmination around as well as discounts in registration.

Please visit www.hspds.org/tournament.php for further details.

Sincerely,
Tim Hwang,
Tournament Director Harvard Speech and Parliamentary Debate Society

CUSID British Parliamentary National Debating Tournament

On behalf of the Hart House Debates Committee, I would like to extend an invitation to the CUSID British Parliamentary National Debating Tournament, which will be held at the University of Toronto from October 20th to 22nd.

The tournament will consist of five preliminary rounds of British Parliamentary style debate breaking to semifinals. There will be three rounds of public speaking, breaking the top five speakers.

The Chief Adjudicator for the tournament will be Rory McKeown. Should you have any questions about style and/or judging, please contact him at rh.mckeown@utoronto.ca. Hart House has had tremendous competitive success in recent times and counts among its judging pool debaters who have broken at Worlds both as debaters and/or judges.

Registration fees will be as follows:
North American teams- $130/team
International teams- $80/team

While we do not have a judging requirement, clubs that choose to send judges will be required to pay $50/judge. All of the registration fees are in Canadian Dollars.
