Update to site.

As you may have noticed I have recently updated the template for this site. I have tested it in the new Internet Explorer 7 and Firefox 2.0. However I have learned from experience that changes to designs may appear fine on my PC but don't work on other systems. If you notice any problems with the site please post a comment outlining the issue. Thanks in advance for your help.

UPDATE : It seems that there is a problem with viewing this on Internet Explorer 6. The Blog only appears at the end of the page so the frames aren't working properly. I have made some changes which I hope will solve the problem. However I don't have IE6 on my PC so I'm not sure if it worked. If someone is reading this using IE6 and the blog is aligned with the side bar can you please post a comment. Thanks

A few last pieces of information as you are packing and preparing for travel:
Weather and Clothing: At the end of this email will be a description of the socials that will hopefully give you an idea of dress. The only black tie event is our New Years/ Break Night Banquet on December 31st. The Final is semi-formal/ business dress. (For both though remember that we are the West Coast and therefore most dress codes are recommendations- the most important thing is not to stress)

For the weather- The winter in Vancouver is pretty cold, not freezing, but cold. It is often wet, and it's a good idea to bring a small umbrella if you have one. You will need a raincoat of some kind as it will rain more then once when you are here. Its also a good idea to layer as its that penetrating kind of rain.

Arrivals: We will have people meeting you at the airport, but for security reasons we are not allowed to bring our own vehicles. What this means is that you will need to find transport from the airport to the hotel in one of three ways:

The Vancouver Airporter (tel: 604 946 8866, 800 668 3141; www.yvrairporter.com) runs between Vancouver International Airport and the Wall Centre from approximately 8:55 am every 20 minutes ( :15, :35, :55) until 19:15. Then at 20:25 and 21:25 A one-way trip takes about 35-40 minutes, depending on traffic. Tickets can be purchased from the Airporter ticket office outside the main terminal and adjacent to the bus departure zone, or from the driver, and cost $13 one way (The Sheraton will provide transport back to the airport)

City Bus: (TransLink) From the airport, take bus 424 to Airport Station, then transfer to bus 98-B-Line (Bay No 1) to Burrard SkyTrain station downtown; the service operates from 05:30 to 00:30. Cost about $4

Taxi: A metered taxi to central Vancouver takes about 25 minutes, depending on traffic. Cost: about $25-$30.

Money Matters: Every room at the hotel will need to have a credit card on file, please make arrangements to be able to do this.

You will need to provide your own food on Dec 28th (prior to Opening Ceremonies) and Jan 1st (note lunch listed is ONLY for Council members).

There will also be a cash bar a few different nights so please bear that in mind when planning your finances.

Canada uses the CANADIAN DOLLAR. It is worth about (US) $.87.

Emergency Contact: If someone from home wants to get in contact with you the number for the hotel is +1. 604. 331.1000. (http://www.sheratonwallcentre.com/)

Hope this answers any final questions.
